There are five main sources of renewable energy
- the sun (solar energy)
- the wind
- moving water (hydropower, wave and tidal energy)
- heat below the surface of the earth (geothermal energy)
- biomass (wood, waste, energy crops)
The GREBE project will explore the different renewable energy sources and use of energy efficiency through case studies in the project partner regions. 16 different sources of renewable energy have been selected
- Micro CHP
- Combustion
- Anaerobic Digestion
- Deep Geothermal
- GS heat pump
- Solar PV
- Solar thermal
- Wind on shore
- Wind off shore
- Tidal stream
- Wave
- Hydro small
- Batteries/energy storage
- Hydrogen
- Energy Efficiency
- Hybrid energy systems
